Pup play and pup gatherings in Canada

Pup play is animal roleplay. You take on a dog-like headspace, you play, you chase, you end up in a pile on a mat. For a lot of people there is nothing sexual about it, and a gathering looks closer to a dog park than to a night out. They are called moshes.

What it looks like

An open room, mats, squeaky toys. People turn up in gear or change on site. There is shoving, chasing and cuddling, and there is always a quieter corner for anyone who needs to drop out for a while. Most moshes ban nudity, and many are held in the back room of a bar.

Gear, and doing without it

A hood, a harness, mitts, a tail. None of it is required and nobody will ask why you have none. Plenty of people show up in jeans, watch for an hour, and come back six months later with a hood. Gear is expensive and hard to choose well before you know what you actually like.

Pups and handlers

A handler looks after one or more pups. It is neither a relationship nor a requirement, and plenty of pups have none. Roles get stated on arrival rather than guessed at, and nobody will assign you one.
